Infrastructure Development in Maldives

Project Name: Potable Water and Drainage Infrastructure Upgrade for ADh. Maamigili Major Roads

Project Location: Maamigili Island, Alif Dhaal Atoll, Republic of Maldives

Project Overview: Maamigili, a key hub in the Alif Dhaal Atoll, required a robust piping solution for its major road development initiative. The project aimed to establish a reliable potable water distribution network and an efficient stormwater drainage system. Given the island’s coastal environment, the infrastructure faced specific challenges: high soil salinity, a shallow water table, and the need for long-term flexibility to accommodate ground shifting.

Our role involved the supply of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes and customized fittings engineered to withstand the unique geographical conditions of the Maldives.

Our Value & Project Impact:

• Material Integrity: We provided PE100 high-density polyethylene pipes, which offer superior resistance to chemical corrosion and salt-induced degradation—critical factors for island infrastructure where traditional metal pipes often fail prematurely.

• Logistical Reliability: Understanding the complexities of atoll logistics, we coordinated a streamlined shipping and packaging process to ensure that all piping components arrived on-site intact and ready for immediate installation, minimizing road closure times for the local community.

• Leak-Proof Connection Systems: By supplying high-quality butt-fusion and electrofusion fittings, we ensured a fully monolithic system. This significantly reduces the risk of water loss in a region where fresh water is a scarce and precious resource.

• Sustainable Infrastructure: The project’s success provides Maamigili with a maintenance-free piping lifespan of over 50 years, contributing to the island’s long-term environmental sustainability and supporting its growth as a local transport and tourism center.
