HDPE Pipe for Underground Sewerage System in Mongolia

Project Name: Implementation of HDPE Double Wall Corrugated Piping for Municipal Underground Sewerage

Project Location: Municipal Development Zone, Mongolia

HDPE Pipe for Underground Sewerage System in Mongolia

Project Overview: This project involved the installation of a primary underground drainage and sewerage network designed to support a growing municipal area in Mongolia. The region’s specific environmental conditions—including significant seasonal temperature variations and varied soil density—required a piping material that could maintain structural integrity under heavy earth loads while remaining flexible enough to withstand ground movement.

The project utilized HDPE Double Wall Corrugated (DWC) pipes, selected for their unique structural design: a smooth inner wall for optimal flow and a corrugated outer wall for high ring stiffness. This combination ensured the system could handle the hydraulic demands of the city while offering long-term resistance to the harsh local climate.

Our Value & Project Impact:

  • Structural Performance: We provided HDPE DWC pipes with a high ring stiffness rating, ensuring the lines remain stable even when buried at depths subject to heavy surface traffic and frozen soil pressure.

  • Thermal Adaptability: The high-density polyethylene material was chosen for its excellent impact resistance at low temperatures, a critical factor for the Mongolian climate where traditional rigid materials often become brittle.

  • Efficient Logistics & Installation: Due to the lightweight nature of the DWC design, we assisted the contractor in optimizing transportation costs and simplifying on-site handling, allowing for faster jointing and trench backfilling compared to concrete alternatives.

  • Environmental Sustainability: The leak-proof bell-and-spigot joints, combined with the chemical inertness of HDPE, prevent groundwater contamination, ensuring a secure and environmentally responsible waste management system for the community.
